Overview of class

Welcome to Adventurer 1 class. We are a mixed year 1 and year 2 class. Stevie is the class teacher. Lauren T is the TA. Danielle and Kerry are the ISAs.

Autumn 2:

In English, we have been reading the stories: ‘Funny bones’, ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’, Silly Sally’ and ‘Brown bear brown bear’. We have recalled the stories in various ways; including the use of roleplay to re-enact the story.  We have been able to recall the order of our stories and answer questions on them. We have enjoyed developing our fine motor skills and pencil control.

This term, In maths, we focused on Mass, capacity, measures and patterns. We have compared masses of different objects and sizes; made scales balance and compared the capacity of different containers. We have looked at the various ways in which we can make patterns and follow them.

Our Topic ‘Celebrations and VIPs’’ - is very exciting. We have looked at important figures and enjoyed role playing being Royalty. We really enjoyed making crowns and wearing them in school. We have created beautiful firework art and explored bonfire night. In cooking, we have created some beautiful salt dough ornaments and made some yummy Christmas themed treats.

In music, Karolina has been helping us prepare for our Nativity. We have been following actions to songs and had lots of fun moving to the music.

Every Monday, we take part in rebound therapy with Jess and move and groove with Jo and Helen and Attention autism with Stevie. 

On Wednesdays, we are enjoying Forest school with Stacey. We have been making bubbles; using berries to paint with and exploring outdoor activities. We have also loved exploring our outdoor classroom areas. Stacy has cooked us some yummy food on the fire and we really enjoyed looking through the microscope at the different creatures we could find.

On Fridays, we enjoy creating some delicious treats in cooking.

Spring 1:

Next half term our Topic is Dawn of the dinosaurs.

Reminders:

• Forest schools are on a Wednesday, so please come into school in ‘mucky clothes’ with a named change of clothes.
• Please ensure your child has a spare change of clothes in their bags.
• PE is on Wednesdays
• Library books will be changed every week, please ensure they are in your child’s bag.
• Please send home/school diaries, reading books and reading records back in every day. We try to ensure reading books are changed once a week.
• Please label ALL of your child’s belongings.
