Adventurer 1 Class
Overview of class
Welcome to Adventurer 1 class. We are a mixed year 1 and year 2 class. Stevie is the class teacher. Sharon is the TA. Danielle and Emma are the ISAs.
Autumn 1:
This half term we have been settling in to our new classes, getting to know our new peers and adults whilst also learning our daily routines.
In English, we have been focusing on Traditional Tales. We have been reading the stories: ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’, ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and ‘The Enormous Turnip’. We have created story characters, sequenced stories in role play, used colourful semantics to describe characters and settings and answered simple questions about what we have read. We have worked hard in phonics and focused on forming our sounds with various writing materials.
This term, In Maths, we have focused on matching and sorting. We have had opportunities to match, sort and compare using different criteria (colour, object, size, shape) and have also identified mistakes in pre-sorted groups by spotting the ‘odd one out’.
Our Topic ‘Houses and Homes’ - was lots of fun. We have explored and identified different types of houses, designed and made houses using different materials (including bricks, food, shapes), engaged in role play opportunities, printed brick patterns and enjoyed themed activities through Attention Autism.
In music, we have been enjoying taking part in small group sessions exploring different instruments and joining in with songs and music led by Karolina.
During Forest School, we have been enjoying themed sessions with Pam. We have had lots of fun getting messy and playing with sand, mud and food alongside a focused activity and a range of mark making opportunities using natural materials.
Autumn 2:
In Topic we will be looking at ‘Celebrations around the World’.
In English, we will be focusing on ‘Prepositions and Descriptors: Celebrating Light and Dark’ and ‘Greetings and letters: Christmas and winter traditions’.
In maths, we will enjoy learning about ‘measures and patterns’.
