Communication Support

At Sherbrook ‘communication’ is vital for all of our children. We always ensure that we facilitate each and every child’s speech, language and communication needs.

We are able to think ‘out of the box’ and adapt our techniques to find a best fit approach to actualise every child’s potential learning.

Our ‘Total Communication’ environment encompasses speech, Makaton, visual/symbol support, objects of reference, PECs, PODD, along with gesture, body language and facial expressions.

Our children will always have a mode in which they can communicate; which journey they will go on will be explored, adventured and ultimately discovered!!

At Sherbrook we are have our own Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, Margaret-Ann Thompson-Smith.  Margaret-Ann is Makaton trained and uses her skills on a daily basis to assist our children and support our staff.
