Spring 1:

Discoverer 2 have had a fabulous term, we have been learning about USA and the Native Americans in our USA road trip topic. We have explored living things and their habitats in Science and children enjoyed planting cress seeds and watching them grow under four different conditions.

This half term in Art we have explored different artist styles including Andy Warhol’s pop art designs and Claus Oldenburg style sculptures. The children really had fun doing this.

In maths we started the term off on consolidating our knowledge on addition and subtraction before moving onto exploring 2D and 3D shape properties. Finishing the term off with work on Money.

During English we have done lots of work on poems all about Monsters. We read many poems from the book Its behind you! By Paul Cookson and the children found rhyming words in these. They have looked in detail at the features of different poems. They have learnt about different sentences types and created their own poem using, question, statement, command and exclamation sentences.

Discoverer 2 have also enjoyed getting outdoors during Forest school sessions where they have had the opportunity to make bird nests pouches and cook on the open fire. The children especially enjoyed orienteering during this session!

Discoverer 2 children have welcomed Emily into the class which has been wonderful to see.
