Mental Health and Wellbeing
Sherbrook Primary School is committed to promoting emotional wellbeing and mental health by renewing the Wellbeing Award for Schools. The school has a clear vision and strategy for promoting and protecting emotional wellbeing and mental health. We have a positive culture which regards emotional wellbeing and mental health as the responsibility of all. We actively promote staff emotional wellbeing and mental health. The school prioritises professional learning and staff development. We understand the different types of emotional and mental health needs across the school and have put systems in place to respond appropriately. We actively seek the ongoing participation of the whole school community in our approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health. We actively work in partnership with other schools, agencies and available specialists to support emotional wellbeing and mental health.
In line with our Vision, Ethos and Values, Sherbrook Primary School cares for the whole child. We like to work with parents and carers to ensure that children are happy at home and school.
If you think your child is worried or anxious about anything please get in touch with your child’s class teacher initially. School can support your child with 1:1 interventions or small group work. We have a detailed programme of support we can provide tailored to your child’s needs.
In November 2022 we were delighted to be recognised as the winners of the Alex Timpson Award for 2022. This recognises our outstanding Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed practice. Our Sherbrook Showcase for this can be viewed here.
If you would like any more information or would like to speak to a member of staff, please call the school office and they will direct you to the appropriate member of staff. Alternatively, they can direct you to an outside agency that may be able to help.
Don’t forget we are always here to listen.
